Third Year student qualifies for Young Playwrights’ Programme 2019

Congratulations to Third Year student Cian Walsh has successfully gained one of eight prestigious places on the Young Playwrights’ Programme organised by Fighting Words at Graffiti Theatre Company. The programme will culminate in a Staged Reading of their work at The Everyman by professional actors and directors, as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival 2019.

SMGS girls reach All Ireland play-offs 🏀

SMGS faced a tough Skibbereen team in the third place play off for the U16A league. SMGS confidently took the lead for the entire game but heading into the fourth quarter Skibbereen CS fought back narrowing our lead to only two points!

First Year Futsal

Leaving WIT wth medals! 1st yr Futsal runners up in Munster final. Winning four out of five matches put them on par with Tipperary. Narrowly losing out in dramatic penalty shoot out 3-2

Ag Science Trip 2018

6th Year Ag Science students visited Castlecor Potato Farms, Mallow today. Students saw first hand how potatoes were grown, harvested and stored. This was a fantastic experience and to make the day even better, all students received a complimentary bag of rooster potatoes.

Munster Soccer success for Ellie

Well done to first year student Ellie O’ Brien who has been picked for under 15s Munster schoolgirls’ Soccer team and is playing this weekend in the Inter-Pros Tournament in Dublin. Good luck to Ellie and the girls.

SMGS Awards Night 2018

SMGS Awards night took place last Thursday 8th November in the Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig. It was a wonderful occasion for us as a school body to celebrate the many sucesses of our students. The Awards Night recognises both academic and extra-curricular achievements as well as recognising students’ good behaviour, manner and co-operation with the Class Awards.

SMGS Ladies Strike again

On a wet Thursday morning, SMGS Junior girls took on Passage West in Blarney. From the first whistle, the Blarney girls had complete control of the game with the opening two points being scored by Megan O'Shea and Aoibhin Kiely.

U14 Hurling campaign starts well

Under 14 hurlers first day out was a challenge against Carrigaline CS in Blarney with a 2-10 to 3-2 win. Great to see so many young lads taking part in GAA activities in the school.
